On Saturday, Melania Trump unexpectedly became the center of attention after people noticed what she did at the prayer service being held that day. During the service a blind singer, with a number of medical conditions delivered a moving performance of “How Great Thou Art.” After the performance was over, Melania took to her feet to lead a standing ovation for the singer.
The traditional National Prayer Service at the National Cathedral and everyone was in attendance. The first lady, along with President Donald Trump, the Trump family, and Vice President Mike Pence and his family, all were in attendance for the National Prayer Service.
Marlana VanHoose, age 20, is not only blind but suffers from cerebral palsy as well. She didn’t let any of this stop her from delivering an incredible rendition the traditional hymn while standing on the cathedral steps.
Despite being born with these medical conditions VanHoose has managed to achieve success as a singer and has made an impressive career as a singer. She received a great deal of fame from the reactions she got from the Republican National Convention this past summer when she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Her singing on Saturday was an incredibly moving performance. During her song, Melania Trump was seen visibly wiping tears from her eyes.
As soon as VanHoose was done singing, Melania Trump stood up to give her a standing ovation, and her husband, Donald Trump followed in step.
Twitter quickly erupted after seeing Melania Trump’s reaction to the hymn. Twitter users sang Melania’s praises, while simultaneously bashing the Women’s March going on at the same time in Washington.

Although this extremely talented singer and Melania’s heartfelt reaction to her performance definitely received a lot of attention, the service included many other songs and prayers from a great variety of faiths.
The choir also sang a number of patriotic songs that include “America the Beautiful” and “My Country ‘Tis Of Thee.” These songs were accompanied by the Liberty University choir, which sang “We’ve Come This Far By Faith.”
In addition to the songs and the hymns, the service also included a number of prayers and readings. These were read by religious leaders from Roman Catholic, Baha’i, Protestant, Jewish, Sikh, Mormon, Buddhist, Native American, Episcopal, and Hindu faiths.
“Oh Lord God, our heavenly father, whose glory is in all the world. we commend this nation to thy merciful care, that being guarded by thy providence, we may dwell secure in thy peace,” Todd Christopherson, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles Mormon church prayed.
“Grant to President Donald John Trump, president of the United States, and to all in your authority thy grace and favored, give them wisdom and strength to know and to do thy will,” he continued.
“Imbue with thy heavenly gifts, fill them with the love and truth of righteousness, and make them every mindful of their calling to serve this people, in thy fear through Jesus Christ our lord who lives and reigns with thee, one god, world without end,” prayed Christopherson.
Bishop Harry Jackson of Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, Md. asked for the Trump administration to be given “wisdom and grace in the exercise of their duties” by God.
Jackson went on to encourage Trump and Pence to “serve all people of this nation and promote the dignity and freedom of every person.”
